Kyoutei was incredibly nervous.
And she really couldn't figure out why.
It had started after she got home from her meeting with Michi. She didn't expect it, but she felt like an utter piece of crap after her thoughts wandered to Yuki--this had been happening more and more often, much to her utter confusion. She felt guilty about meeting up with Michi, which boggled her--Michi was just a friend! It weighed heavily on her though, which her uncle had noticed. They had talked, much to the girl's relief.
Today, however, the nervousness kept biting at her. She had called up Yuki earlier, stammering and turning several shades of red, asking if he would be kind enough to have a picnic with her, to get an idea of how she was improving with her cooking. (She only rejoiced his answer once she got off the phone, too embarrassed to be that enthusiastic with him listening.)
What she hadn't mentioned was that it was a kind of "date" of sorts, not that she could ever have the nerve to say that to him. Still, she had sort of dressed up--her uncle knew what actually WAS a date and what wasn't--a white skirt with matching short sleeved top, a blue vest going over it. White legwarmers with a blue ribbon adorned her legs, along with a pair of black shoes. Her ribbons today were blue, matching her vest.
Kyou sat on the picnic blanket she had spread in the shade, glancing over at the bento she had brought. She had made more than usual, unsure if anyone else would drop in--though she seriously hoped no one did--and waited, tugging at her skirt. She checked her watch, growing a little concerned. "I wonder if he got held up somewhere..."

Yuki had been ecstatic when Kyoutei called him to arrange a meeting. Though he had kept it in check over the phone, he had a large grin on his face still as they made the arrangements. Needless to say, he was looking forward to today.
So much so, that he wasn't even paying attention when somebody decided to sock him square in the face. Really, he should have figured that today of all days those punks would come out of the woodwork. Not very patient today, he pretty much decided that his best course of action was to fight his way out- then run the hell away and lose them.
Sadly, they were a persistent bunch, and by the time Yuki managed to lose them, his "date" with Kyoutei had begun about thirty minutes ago.
"Dammit!" Yuki swore underneath his breath, looking at his watch. "I hope she's still waiting!"
Gritting his teeth, he made his way to the park, and looked for their meeting spot. He let out a sigh of relief when he discovered that she was still waiting for him and hurried up to her. "Sorry to keep you waiting, Kyoutei! A few things happened..." He laughed a little, rubbing the back of his head, not about to admit what had actually happened.

Kyou couldn't help but get even more worried as the time passed. Yuki was a nice guy, she knew he'd never stand her up, so it meant something had to have happened. She mildly panicked, incredibly concerned. Did something happen to Kouin-chan? she thought, thinking of the pink-haired girl that she couldn't help but be fond of, Or a fight, maybe? she wondered, recalling Yuki's less than desirable reputation.
She kept worrying, sharply looking up when she heard someone heading toward the meeting spot. She saw him in the distance, and couldn't help but be relieved. "Yuki-kun!" she said, waving at him, a bright smile on her face.
Then it hit her. Wait a minute, is he--
Her lavendar eyes widened as she realized the state Yuki was in. Her mouth gaped, horrified at the extent of the damage, wordlessly staring as Yuki apologized for being late. She let out a note of surprise, then, "My god, Yuki-kun, are you all right?!" she asked, her worry doubling. She knew better than to ask what had happened--she caught the hint when Yuki didn't explain what kept him--but she was still concerned. "Does it hurt anywhere? Aren't you tired? Maybe you should sit down, it might make you feel better--" she fretted, rummaging around in her purse, "--oh, all I've got are some band-aids--" she said, trying to find something else. Eyeing the cloth used to wrap the bento, she looked over at Yuki again.
"A-are you bleeding anywhere? It should probably get patched up as soon as possible, to be safe and all--"
It occured to the girl that not once had she asked if they should reschedule their meeting. For the most part, she realized it was her being incredibly selfish--she had been looking forward to this and wanted to spend time with Yuki--but she had a feeling that he might protest to it too.

"I'm fine, really, Kyoutei." Yuki assured her, taking hold of her hands, smiling at her. "I've been in worse fixes. There's no need to worry about me."
Of course, he then realized that he was holding her hands, and turned a bright shade of red, quickly letting them go. "Oh, sorry about that!" he said quickly, glancing away from her. He couldn't help but notice how cute she looked today, wondering if maybe she thought this was something else, instead of just a taste test.
He quickly shoved that thought out of his mind, however. There was no way, right? Kyoutei wouldn't be the type of girl to be interested in him. Honestly, he was just grateful that she wanted to be friends with him.
"But, really, I'm fine." He assured her once more, looking back now that his blush had faded. "Don't worry."

"Are you sure? I don't want you straining yourself--" Kyoutei stopped abruptly in her sentence, right when Yuki grabbed her hands. "...oh my..." she said, more to herself, feeling her face heat up to a vivid red. Quickly, she ducked her head, hoping and praying Yuki didn't see that. Her nervousness at the whole situation was forgotten, for a moment, she felt incredibly happy, then it disappeared, like a bubble popping, when he let go. The girl was left with a strange...empty feeling, and didn't quite like it. It left her more than a little doubtful. Sure, she hoped that Yuki liked her, but she wasn't really certain--what if she just reminded him of Kouin?
Timidly, she looked back up, realizing he had apologized and was looking away. It was hard to tell, but she was pretty sure he was blushing--his tan always made it hard to tell. "It's a-all right!" she replied, smiling a little. It's not like I minded or anything... her thoughts finished.
When he once again reassured that he was okay, she nodded, but still looked a little doubtful. "All right, but if you start feeling dizzy or if you start hurting or anything, just...tell me, all right?" she told him. Then, she blinked. "Ah! Right! I bet you're hungry--sit down, sit down!" she told him as she smoothed out her skirt and sat down herself, unwrapping the bento. Carefully, she took the top off, revealing the food within. Rice, omelette, awkwardly cut octopus wieners, stir fry, curry, some small thing that was supposed to be ramen without the broth, along with some other things which looked a little unrecognizable--it looked like she managed to burn it.
"I'm sorry it doesn't look all that great in places..." she apologized, handing him some chopsticks. "My uncle said it tasted pretty good anyways, but I think he said it to be nice..."

"I'm sure. Really, don't worry about it." Yuki laughed at little, reaching over to lightly pat her head. "This is nothing."
There was no way he was going to let this keep him from spending time with Kyoutei- he had been looking forward to this all day, after all. And it was true, what he had said to her earlier, he had been in worse fixes than this. He could handle it.
When asked if he was hungry, Yuki could only laugh more, a wide grin forming on his face. "Hungry? I'm starving." He told her, taking a seat on the ground. He watched as she opened up the bento boxes, and smiled at the food inside.
"I'm sure your uncle was telling the truth." The gray haired boy assured her, grabbing a pair of chopsticks. "Thank you for the food~" With that, he reached into the bento boxes and plucked out an omelet, munching on it for awhile before he grinned. "Not bad!"

Kyoutei squeaked a little when Yuki patted her on the head, her cheeks flushing a deep pink. However, she couldn't help it, she smiled brightly as Yuki complimented her food. "R-really?" she stammered, blushing a little in surprise. "Oh, I'm so happy, I always worry that I'm not very good--" she fidgeted a little, getting one of the octopus wieners and chewing on it.
After she swallowed, she smiled again. "I'm sure your cooking is much better than mine--your cookies certainly were!" she laughed a little, tugging at her skirt. She was still nervous, wishing she could say something cool or impressive, but lapsed into silence for a little bit.
"Ah! On the subject of cooking, there was something I wanted to ask..." Kyou murmured, feeling her cheeks heating up. "I talked with my dad and uncle about it and they said it was okay and all--" More fidgeting. Ahh, I'm getting so nervous! All I want is to ask if I could still get a job at that ramen place, or maybe the curry place-- she thought, feeling her cheeks flush even more.

It was nice out today.
Shinkirou sauntered into the park, hands in his pockets. He sighed, grumbling a little. He didn't have class today, but was irritated just the same, his folks were getting on his case about him being lazy. He lied saying he needed to do some kind of research, but actually had gone to see if he could score with anyone. So far, he hadn't managed much--another meet-up planned with one, a few phone numbers--which put him into a foul mood.
There was always the option of bothering Yuki, but he was mysteriously absent from the ramen shop and the curry shop--the most he'd gotten in reply to him being gone was a gruff "he went out" from the ramen shop boss. Muttering darkly, he stalked along, glancing to and fro. The last time he'd been here, Masahiro's sister had vanished, and he hoped the same wouldn't happen today. He didn't feel like going on a chase.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a long, gray braid. Turning sharply in the direction of the braid, his jaw dropped. It was Yuki all right...but with a girl. The thought just startled him. Yuki? With a chick?
Something was wrong with the world.
Shinkirou stared for a moment longer, then smirked. Let's give him some competition. he thought as he walked in the direction of Yuki and the mysterious girl. As he got closer, he realized that the girl seemed to be the brown-haired one Kouin had mentioned, hell, she even had the ribbons. Hmm, it looks like my initial thoughts of her were wrong. She's kinda cute, actually, though she's kinda...plain. What was her name? Kyoutei or something? he observed a little more. She looks mousy. Shy, too. Heh, this will be EASY.
He waved at them as he approached them. "Yo! Yuki-kun!" he greeted pleasantly, a good-natured smile on his face. "What brings you out here today?" he asked, then purposefully looked in Kyoutei's direction, blinking a little. He stared a little, rubbing the back of his neck. "And who's this cute girl?" he glanced over at the bento. "A picnic, huh? Mind if I join in, miss?" he asked politely to the brown haired girl, only glancing once at Yuki again--to grin impishly.

"Well, don't worry about that." Yuki grinned at her. "It took years of practice for me to get as good as I am today. Your skills will only improve from here on out." He told her, taking a bite of some of her octopus wieners. "And I still have a lot of improvement that needs to be made myself."
He tilted his head, curious as to what Kyoutei was going to ask. "What is i-?" He stopped then, a familiar voice drifting through the air. He swore he could have felt his heart stop for a moment. Crap. He thought, glancing back behind him. Shinkirou! That was the last person he wanted to see here today!
"Shinkirou." He said shortly, crossing his arms with a frown. "To what do I owe the honor of your presence?" He asked sarcastically, arching an eyebrow. How the hell did he keep finding him anyways? "This is Aijouno Kyoutei."
"I'd really rather you not. You might contaminate the food."

"A-ah! Well, I wanted to--"
And Kyou didn't get to say what she really wanted to, as someone called Yuki's name in the next instant. Her insides clenched as she felt her nervousness increase even more. The newcomer was a redheaded young man, somewhat shorter than Yuki was, and somewhat good looking--though Kyou felt a little...wary? Something about his attitude just bothered her. Like he was trying too hard.
She did blush like mad upon being called cute, though, choking profusely on her food. She delved into a coughing fit, swallowing hard. "...I don't really think I'm cute..." she gasped out after a moment, blushing even more. She nodded a little at Yuki's introduction, feeling even more nervous--it seemed like they didn't like each other, this Shinkirou and Yuki.
The girl hesitated at Shinkirou's asking if he could join in. She didn't want to make Yuki uncomfortable with this guy being here, but if she said no, then it really was a date, wasn't it? Hastily, she snuck a glance at Yuki, her face turning pink, then stared at the picnic blanket. "Well...y'see..." she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper. Her heart thudded in her ears. "That is to say..."
She then bit her lip. "A-as long as you're not here for too long, I don't see a problem with it, Shinkirou-san." she tugged at her skirt, "Yuki-kun and I were going to have another cooking lesson afterwards, so..." she shifted a little, looking at Yuki meaningfully. She was lying about doing anything afterwards, but hoped either Yuki would play along or Shinkirou would fall for it.
Inwardly, the girl was incredibly sad. Why did someone have to show up? she thought, wishing she could cry about it.

"Kyou-chan, then, I guess." Shinkirou replied with a nod, brushing off Yuki's sarcasm. At Yuki's comment that he'd contaminate the food, he laughed a little. "Aww, Yuki-kun, you're just jealous because I popped up and ruined the mood." he told the tanned young man with a knowing grin.
Seeing Kyoutei's struggling to reply, he smiled a little. When she snuck a glance at Yuki and blushed, however, he almost fell over--not only was Yuki with a girl, she...liked him, it seemed? Him? Him? No way! It was ludicrous! Insane! Unthinkable!
Something was really wrong with the world.
He kept a cheerful smile on his face, eyes brightening when she did allow him to stay. He blinked a little when the girl mentioned they wouldn't be there long. "Man, that's such a shame," he commented as he sat down, deliberately sitting closer to the ribboned girl than to Yuki, "you're an incredibly cute girl, Kyou-chan, even more so than Kouin-chan mentioned. I'd have loved to get to know you better." he told her with a winning smile. "Maybe another time?" he added smoothly, with a small wink.
This was going to be so much fun.

Tch. Yuki clicked his tongue in disgust as Shinkirou joined them, though he tried to keep himself under check. It wouldn't do for him to loose his temper around Kyoutei. Suzuki was one thing, but he wasn't quite sure he wanted the brunette to see that side of him- at least, not yet.
Unsurprisingly, Yuki did not seem happy when Kyoutei allowed Shinkirou to stay, and it showed on his face. Gritting his teeth, he shot a glare at the red haired male, as if telling him about the future punishment to come.
"I'm not sure it would be in Kyoutei's best interest to speak with a playboy." Yuki said coldly, still glaring at Shinkirou, reaching out to grab his shoulder. "It would be nice if you would stop harassing her."

Kyoutei felt her face flush even more as Shinkirou complimented her. "Umm...umm, that's very nice of you to say, Shinkirou-san..." she murmured, shifting uncomfortably--she felt incredibly weird having him so close by, it made her heart race and gave her the chills--she kept tugging at her skirt, looking increasingly distressed by him. "B-but I think I'll have to pass on your offer--or at least I'd prefer to not be alone...maybe Kouin-chan could come too?" she glanced over at Yuki, seeing how irritated he looked, and felt herself wilt a little. Ohh, I don't want him upset, not today, not today! she thought, feeling the urge to cry.
Will he hate me? Oh god, I'll never be able to forgive myself if he hates me... she thought, keeping her head lowered as she handed Shinkirou a pair of chopsticks. Everything felt so tense, and unconsciously, she shifted closer to Yuki as he stook up for her. "I'm sure Shinkirou-san is only playing..." she replied, but still came closer to him anyways. Her face tinted pink a little, and she sorely hoped Yuki didn't notice.
Kyou then blinked a little. "Oh! There's nothing to drink, hold on you two, I'll be right back!" she told them as she got up, completely unaware that leaving the two together might be an incredibly bad move. "I'll be just a few minutes--there's a vending machine nearby--please, help yourselves while I'm gone!" she told them as she hurried off.
Man, I wish that guy never showed up! I just wanted to spend some time alone with Yuki-kun... she thought, sighing a little, feeling her face heat up again.

Oh, now this was getting really interesting.
Shinkirou clapped his hands, taking the chopsticks the fluffball brunette handed him, giving her a smile that she probably didn't see. "Thank you for the food!" he said as he got some of the omelette. As she moved closer to Yuki, he subtly moved a little closer, inwardly wincing as Yuki rested his hand on his shoulder and the girl mentioned Kouin. "Maybe that wouldn't be a good idea, Kyou-chan..." he said sheepishly, backing off just a tad.
After all, the fun was just beginning.
When she said he was playing, he only smiled. "You really shouldn't be so down on yourself, Kyou-chan." he replied kindly, a little taken aback as the girl blushed once again. This girl is completely nuts. How the hell is she not terrified of him? he wondered, keeping himself from scowling a little. He blinked when she said she'd be right back, a prick of fear biting at him. Well, crap. he thought, though he watched as she left.
Once she was out of earshot, though, he turned back to Yuki, an incredibly smug look on his face. "So! You have the hots for her, don't you?" he asked, figuring if he was going to get his ass pummeled, he might as well have as much fun as he could. "She's so nervous and mousy--though I did mean it when I said she was cute. Don't meet too many girls like that...she seems incredibly nervous around you though." he closed his eyes for a second, leaning back.
"You said she knows about the rumors, right? And that she didn't care?" he asked, gazing at Yuki, a small smile forming on his lips. "It ever occur to you maybe she lied because she doesn't want you to hurt her or anything? Or that maybe she feels sorry for you?" he shook his head. "It's not like she'd have a crush on you or something--maybe you're getting your hopes up." He paused for another moment.
"Maybe she'd be better off with me." he finished with a smirk.

"Ah, take your time, Kyoutei." Yuki smiled pleasantly at her as she excused herself, then turned back to Shinkirou. His good eye narrowed almost as soon as the boy started talking. It was if he enjoyed getting on his nerves or something, which was odd, since it was usually followed by a subsequent beating.
...maybe he was a masochist.
Suppressing an inward shudder at that thought, Yuki listened to the red haired male continue to talk, until he just couldn't take it anymore. Good eye twitching, he got to his feet, glaring down at Shinkirou. "Ah, shut up already, will you!?"
"Why is it any of your concern who I like anyways, huh?" He asked, crossing his arms in front of him. "You're always butting in like this and ruining things. I'm sick and tired of it, you know? You always do this!"
He leaned down then, so that their eyes met, faces close to each other. "Leave."
