I see a heart set free
and my legacy hear a voice from a
shadow that is beckoning me
Character Name: Bao-Yu Koekami
Senshi Name: Sailor Arawn
Age: 20
Birthdate: January 20th, Capricorn-Aquarius Cusp, Born on the Day of the Freewheeler
Personality: Back in High School she was all about being the busy bee of the class and the apple of the principle’s eye. Now as she’s gotten a little older and has moved on to college, things have changed in regards to her civilian lifestyle. With such high marks in school she was able to convince her father that a well educated woman would be a greater asset in serving her husband in the long run, thus dodging the bullet to immediately marry to her rumored arranged marriage for now. She has gone from an over-zealous extrovert to a focused ambivert, with her same masks in play just in a different capacity. Bao-yu now appreciates her alone time, and dedicates her life to getting her doctorates degree in business while competing professionally within her trained martial arts style. Sometimes time sacrifices need to be made from her schoolwork during certain competitions, but she tends to grab her assignments and complete them ahead of time prior to departure.
Around people she's very pleasant and cordial, still acting like the accommodating individual and warm-hearted friend to those who seek her company. But these days she's less engaged in fixing their plights or problems, opting quick suggestions as opposed to a shoulder to cry on. With the exception of a select few people that she considers close companions, often times a lot of folks feel that she's "distant" with them these days. To people she dislikes, she won't ever hide her disdain for them like before. But she's not one to cause a scene or get into fights. She's the type of person that will warn you upfront of her displeasure then stab you in the back later when you least expect it. She's also not one to hide her money anymore. She'll wear expensive clothes, pamper herself (and a close friend) on a constant basis, and take time to appreciate the finer things in life. Bao-Yu is regal in her spending but not careless; and she's not one to turn down social events, but her sharp eye on moderation by reputation keeps her attitude in check.
During holiday she goes back to China only to train, with little but a week of actually visiting family out of necessity. Bao-Yu despises more of her direct family, and there is seething rivalry between her and her older brother Ichiro since he is to be the sole heir to the family businesses and she wants it. It makes matters worse when her father publicly treats her like a second class citizen to put Bao-Yu in her place. The masks she makes are designed not to crack by nature of their grand architect. But internally there is a lava core waiting to erupt if ever given the chance to do so without repercussion.
As Sailor Arawn, all forms of moral and ethical decorum are left behind. In terms of Sigmund Freud’s theology, Arawn is the Id side to Bao-Yu. True, she maintains a level of grace in her goal-oriented rampage; but it’s considered pure sarcasm at that point. Her cool exterior and wicked smirk are a mockery of your abilities by comparison. She cares little for others if they aren’t part of the plan, and will dispense of those who are of little consequence when gone. All of her pent up emotions and desires play out in full as her senshi alter ego, and it’s a dangerous encounter if you accidentally cross paths with her.
Realizing that she can be the perfect citizen on one side and the perfect criminal on the other has warranted for wild and unbridled plots of violent intrigue. As long as neither of the two personas meets simultaneously in the eyes of those who could condemn her, all is well in her world.
Physical Appearance:Being that she is now rarely around her family, and has distanced herself from those who tend to judge her from a high society perspective, Bao-yu has let her hair down, literally. She hasn’t grown by much over the years, standing at a simple 5’4” now with the same onyx black hair, smooth olive skin, and genetically altered aqua eyes. Since the family invests heavily in genetic research, her parents sought fit to flaunt their prowess by “engineering” each of their children to have special traits; which is why neither child look entirely related. These days she wears her hair long, and the upper portion is cut in short layers that flip out a little while the rest remains loose and carefree. This is a vast change from the previous traditional Chinese buns with pony-braids. But whenever she makes a trip back home or an appearance to those connected to her family’s business, the attire is required and thus worn.
Her clothes have become a bit more casual from the formal uniforms she always wore, but a lot of her attire is name brand and classy in nature. She’s less about trends and more about sophistication. Since her body has matured, and her lean athletic build more defined, she’s become one of those women that men are too afraid to approach from a romantic sense.
It’s quite obvious that Bao-yu takes good care of her body; it’s her mind that’s the problem.
Strengths: Focused, calculating, athletic, business-savvy
Her martial arts training in WudanQuan kung fu comes specifically from her training in China. She has a little over 15 years of experience, and every time there has been a school break she goes back home to train. When she’s in Japan she had gotten involved in clubs and a few competitions to help keep her sharp to its physical and mental demands. Her college years have granted her more time to hone these specific skills rigorously now that she’s backed off from a lot of other extra-curricular activities and focuses only on her degree program and her training.
Weaknesses: Deceiving, egotistical, unapproachable these days, cruel
Her weaknesses are more subtle than most others. The fact of the matter is that she has made it her personal career to put on this Mary-Sue-esque air of perfection to appease the will of society. Over time this is beginning to compound on itself, making it only a simple waiting game to see how far things will go until she’s driven into a near-psychotic madness that she won’t be able to drag herself out of.
Dreams:She has every intention on taking over the family business and being its sole heir through any means necessary. It’s just a matter of biding her time until then.
Habits: She still loves to dictate random words and sentences in different languages that she doesn’t know. Sort of how a Japanophile will add random Japanese words like “kawaii” or “neko” into their sentence structure at will; Bao-yu is notorious for doing the same thing with English, French, Italian, and just about anything else that she finds to be a catchy word or phrase.
Background: Bao-yu is born a Japanese citizen through her father’s side, while her mother is of Chinese descent. When she was three she moved back to China for six years with her mother and grandparents while her father, Jun Koekami, continued to run his businesses without them. Afterwards she returned to Japan to live with her father and brother in order to integrate them into the Japanese lifestyle. During the school year she lives in Japan but during holidays and breaks she goes back to China. Bao-yu’s parents married for business merging reasons in order to strengthen their economic resources in both countries. Between the Koekami and the Zhao families, there is an approximate several billion dollar estate in textiles, genetic research, and tourism that puts Bao-yu in the upper echelon of high-society.
Her childhood has been that of privilege and responsibility, which means she has lived an extravagant, yet, extremely strict lifestyle. While it’s not hard to realize why people are jealous of her monetary means, a lot of them fail to realize that her father regards her with little care or respect. She may as well be a servant because that’s about the level to which her father verbally communicates with her, and her mother follows suit to her husband’s decisions. Actions are expected to be followed out, and failure is not an option. Refusal to obey ends in being disowned from the family. Indeed, the few people who actually know the Koekami family would describe them all as “frigid.” Bao-yu is actually the most personable of them all both in forced requirement and the fact that she’s naturally an extroverted and unflinching individual. Because of these traits, she was able to meet Arashiyama Kiyoshi at a social party.
Even though she was three years the boy’s elder, the two hit it off in a way that seemed like clockwork destiny. Although they were of vastly different backgrounds of circumstance, Bao-Yu found that their personal opinions of high society seemed to steep in mutual resentment. It was because of him that inspired her to fight for a “normal lifestyle”…or as normal as a person of her upbringing could warrant. With some meticulously constructed words, and numerous conversations, Bao-yu managed to convince her father to live in her own “apartment” near a public school that is close to Crystal Tokyo during her High School years. As long as she acted as a predominant representative of the Koekami Company to the royal family, she was granted permission to have this small freedom.
It hasn’t been until recently that she discovered the unique powers of Sailor Arawn. A year ago just before she was to start her freshman year of college, she took a trip to the Fushimi Inari-taisha shrine in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto, Japan. Her grandmother Kimiko, prophesized that there Bao-yu would find an inner power and knowledge to her true destiny in life. Finding it a little far-fetched, Bao-Yu still heeded the words of her elder with respect and headed to its location. While meditating at the shrine, she mysteriously came across a pen-like object that seemed to trigger an unexplainable desire to know more about it. With the power of Sailor Arawn in her possession, she dedicated her spare time to discover some of the innate abilities within her newly granted skills and practices arduously behind closed doors. Still hunting for a purpose as to why she came across something of this nature, she plots how she will be using it for her own goals.
Family - Jun Koekami (Father, 60), Xiang Zhao (Mother, 45), Ichiro Koekami (Eldest Brother, 26), Jia Li Zhao (Grandmother), Guang Zhao (Grandfather), Yasuo Koekami (Grandfather), Kimiko Koekami (Grandmother)
The Senshi Side of Life
Elemental Power: Death & Silence
Transformation Phrase: Arawn Planet Power, Make Up!
Uniform Description: Arawn wears the standard senshi fuku with raven features instead of the purist white. Her primary color is lavender which is displayed on the collar, skirt, glove edges and boot covers. The other is maroon featured on her bows and shoe soles. Her boots come up to the high shin in black for efficiency with a flexible sole and zip-up lavender coverlets for style.
A unique trait about her is that when she transforms her hair will wrap into two pigtail-like braids that fall past her hips while her shorter upper layer of hair flips out into a bell shape. From there her black hair becomes a gradient of her original color plus that of her senshi representation. This is designed to make her look very little like her civilian self and very much a unique alter ego.
Attack Name: Sleeping Lotus
Description of Attack: A small black spiritual seed emerges from her broach and locks into her clenched hand. At this time she will transfer it to a living entity by either throwing it or pushing it against them in a non-discreet manner. From there the spiritual seed will plant itself into the heart of her target and begin to suckle their energy away until such a point where the victim is either purified, magically attacked, or passes out from exhaustion. If they pass out, a lavender lotus blossom will bloom on the surface of their skin in the general region of the heart. If Arawn retrieves this lotus, she will consolidate the energy stolen from her victim and become enhanced by it's power, or she can choose to store it for future use. If others touch the lotus it will wilt and die away, returning all of the energy back into its victim that was initially stolen. It is unlikely that she'll not try to retrieve the lotus, but if it is ever a situation where she doesn't then it'll wilt and return the energy to its victim. She can only perform this on one individual per session / battle / thread.
The process of losing energy degrades from feeling normal, to having growing afflictions of sleepiness, followed by sluggish movement from lacking the energy to do so, to eventual collapse into a deep sleep.
The time effect of this skill is designed to work faster as the victim's activity increases. Meaning people who remain sedentary will take longer to lose their energy versus those who perform a lot of physical activity. The effects will obviously be much faster during battle encounters if utilized against a fighting opponent. As stated above, once infected, the seed must be purified, take magical damage from an ally or opponent, or run its course. When Arawn chooses a target, she will not physically strike that individual due to the fact that any damage she deals to that target will jeopardize the effects of the seed. The objective of this skill is to steal energy and store it. The skill will never kill an opponent, only leech their strength until they are no longer conscious. Recovery from this skill requires a few hours of bed rest depending upon the individual. Those who are more athletic will have faster recovery times to those who are physically weak or easy to exhaust.
This skill is designed to be a support skill and not an offensive attack. Arawn is more likely to utilize this on civilians and NPCs than in battle unless a good opportunity arises to where she's able to perform the skill in full without repercussion of losing the effects of the damage. She relies heavily on her fighting prowess as opposed to magical mostly because her skills are so powerful that they can equally drain her energy as well if she is not careful. This skill will be utilized on characters whom I have already discussed the outcome with their player. Otherwise, if randomly thrown as an attack without consultation it'll be up to the player to determine the length of effect.

An amused smile formed upon her mouth as she heard her partner in crime declare his visual appeal with dramatic flare. She always found him to be intriguing in that sense. Unabashed by vanity in its more verbose mannerisms; secretly she too hoped that one day she would be able to be so vocal about her feelings of superiority. But for now it would have to remain behind the scenes, letting her actions of dignity speak louder than any words she could muster of gloating.
As it was before when she had an audience with the King, she perched herself with delicate posture upon the seat as she painted the magnificent illusions upon herself. This was a masquerade, after all, and tonight she could go all out with the pomp and circumstance since it was technically a requirement to such an event. Her costume matched that of her mask. The physical style of the dress itself was 18th century European flair mixed with Asian tapestry that encompassed the golden butterfly visage. It was a blend of modern tastes with old world imagination. Bao-yu felt like the Empress herself from so long ago as she placed a pair of golden winged hairclips to the side to pin her ebony locks up into place. The magic of make-up glittered and shimmered in the waning sunlight as her aqua eyes darted here and there to make sure that her look was pristine.
Indeed, both individuals would probably be out shining their escorts tonight, but that really didn’t matter given the thrill of the upcoming night. “The door is open,” she said with a happy tone jingling in her voice as she finished up the last of her embellishing minstrels. Turning around to see her friend, she anticipated his own costume since she had gotten only a slight glimpse of it when he came over a little while ago. Limousines would soon be on their way to pick up them and their dates. Each would take their own to travel, but for now the two got to enjoy the time together. Not to mention plan their evening under the guise of good intentions. Bao-yu was internally giddy to see what would transgress tonight. The pen tucked away at her sleeve, the key between her bosoms hidden away from public view and carefully guarded. There would be no solace tonight.
“I feel sorry for our escorts already,” she replied wryly, “Never choose a sparrow to lead a phoenix to its duties.”
