Kaze ni yureru hanabira yawarakana anata no hohoemi
Awai kikou no kakera sepia iro no mukou no maboroshi
Character Name:Chuushin Yuki
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Birthdate: January 10th
Occupation: In the late morning and early afternoon, Yuki works at a ramen shop near the park. In the evenings, he works at a curry shop in the heart of the shopping district.
Personality:
Yuki is a person who is rather misunderstood. Because of his looks, people have him pegged as a delinquent, and the fact that he is not terribly social doesn't exactly help this matter. He gets taken for a person who appears calm on the surface, but is really a violent and scary person underneath it, who gets into fights for the sake of getting into fights. This is not true, as he is a rather kind person, who just isn't good at social interaction. Though not antisocial by any stretch of the word, he just takes a while to warm up to people. When he does speak, he is very blunt and honest, and get straight to the point, so some people find him to be rude.
Yuki suffers from a hero complex, as well as what some could consider to be a sister complex, since he is very overprotective of his little sister, Kouin. His hero complex makes it so that he can't just sit down and watch while someone is in trouble, resulting him usually stepping into the situation himself. Because of this, he's grated on the nerves of a lot of local delinquents, which has in part lead to his current reputation. Yuki has a strong sense of right and wrong and will oftentimes attempt to carry out justice in his own way when seen fit.
Around friends or people he has known for a long time, however, he is a lot less quiet and is much more socially interactive. Other people seem to rub off on Yuki in a way- it seems he's more willing to engage in a conversation with someone new if someone he knows well is around. He's been trying to shed his bad image as of late, and has been trying to open up and talk to other people, which has been going as well as one might expect. Shedding his rep is pretty freaking hard!
Physical Appearance: Standing at six feet, four inches, Yuki is very tall for a Japanese man. He is rather skinny and in shape, and has darkly tanned skin, from his biological father. He has long hair for a boy, reaching his knees, the slate-colored hair usually tied up in a braid. His eyes are light green, however, his left is missing. He typically wears a gauze eyepatch over it and has numerous scars over his body, the most noticeable coming across the remains of his left eye, over his nose, and just touching his right cheek. Because he is colorblind and his good eye is light-sensitive, he wears tinted goggles at all times when outdoors. When not using them, they are typically placed on his forehead. He tends to dress in form-fighting clothing, and is fond of ankh and shark tooth necklaces. Most of his clothes are monochrome due to his color blindness.
Strengths: In addition to being an talented cook due to being in charge of cooking for his family, he is also a pretty skilled fighter, having taken karate classes since he was little and gotten into more fights than he cares to remember, so he's picked up a thing or two about plain ol' street fighting as well. He has a lot of willpower, and doesn't give up easily. Because he is generally honest, he is also a good person to turn to in order to get a frank opinion about something. He is fiercely loyal to his friends and family and is also a very hard worker.
Weaknesses: In addition to being colorblind and sensitive to light, the fact that he is blind in his left eye gives him a major blind spot and also warps his depth perception. Though he has learned to deal with these over the years, the more worn down he gets, the more likely he is to slip up. His hero complex has been known to put himself into some really tight spots, and he doesn't always think things through. He's really bad about holding grudges and can be considered to be really rude. His luck is also pretty terrible- if something can go wrong, it probably will!
Dreams: When Yuki was young, he really wanted to be a pilot, but found out later that it was impossible because he was colorblind. It has only been very recently that his dreams have changed, realizing that he could use his talent for cooking as a job. He wants to own his own restaurant one day, but isn't sure what kind yet.
Habits: Yuki is prone to pulling on his hair and pacing when he is either bored or worried about something. He also feels required to make breakfast and dinner for his entire family and has been doing so ever since middle school. In addition, he always picks Kouin and Nao up from school.
Background:
Biologically, Yuki is not a member of the Chuushin family. Rather, he was the child of a marriage that was born as quickly as it died. By the time he was born, his parents were already fighting each other and chose to ignore him, each seeing the other in their child. The fact that he was born fully colorblind, unable to see color at all, and with sensitive eyes that were weak to bright lights didn't help his situation much. Eventually, when the two split, they left their child behind, neither wanting to take care of him. Kotoko Chuushin, Kouin's mother, who had been their neighbor at the time, felt bad for the boy and eventually, after consulting her family, decided to adopt him. Around this time, she was pregnant with Kouin, making Yuki four.
In such a warm environment, Yuki adapted to life with his new family rather quickly. It was a drastic change from what he was used to, but he accepted it with open arms. It took him awhile, but he moved on from his early childhood, putting the whole ordeal behind him. Yuki enjoyed living with his new family and became close to them, especially towards his two younger siblings. It took him a bit longer to accept his new aunt, uncle and cousin when they moved in, but he gradually came to love them as well. He even made some new friends, Shinkirou, Meido, and Kei, the latter of which may have been his first love. There hasn't been a day that has gone by where Yuki hasn't been grateful for the Chuushins taking him, especially when he remembers that the family has always been in the lower middle class.
Then the car accident happened, when Yuki was fourteen. He, along with his aunt and Kouin were all in the car at the time, when another driver lost control of his vehicle, causing an accident that involved the Chuushin family and another driver. Their aunt protected both Yuki and Kouin, taking most of the physical damage herself, severely crippling herself as a result, although Yuki suffered a wound to his left eye, largely blinding him. The driver in the other car wasn't so lucky- he died after being brought to the hospital. Not long after this, Yuki had a huge fight with Shinkirou and Kei herself had an accident, putting the young girl in a coma.
It was probably at this point in his life that his reputation started to be born. Filled with all sorts of feelings he just didn't know what to do with, frustrated that he couldn't protect either Kouin or Kei, he managed to get himself tangled up in a lot of fights. Although he eventually calmed down as time passed, it left him with an unshakable reputation and a lot of punks wanting revenge and rematches. From there it became somewhat of an endless cycle- although he tried to avoid them, he was never very good at it. For awhile, he just gave into it, but that has recently started to change. Perhaps it's due to the fact that he has recently stated to go out with Kouin's childhood friend, Kyoutei?
Yuki is currently working part time at two restaurants, trying to earn his own money. He doesn't go to college currently, since the family is already putting eldest brother Tetsuya through medical school, they just can't afford it at the moment.

Roleplaying Sample: Yuki frowned as he headed up to the Juban Middle School, pulling out his cell phone to confirm that it was time for the final bell to ring. Adjusting the tinted goggles that kept his sensitive eye safe from bright sunlight, he stood by the gate, nodding a bit to the man in charge of opening it. He'd been here enough that they had started to recognize each other by now.
Waiting a few minutes, he spotted his younger sister heading out from the school building. Smiling he took a step forward, then noticed that his sister also happened to be talking to a boy. Even from over here, he could see that he was bothering her a bit, which he didn't like at all. He quickly headed over there, putting a hand on the boy's shoulder and spoke up. "I'm sorry. Did you have something to say to my little sister?" He asked as calmly as he could manage.
The boy jumped the minute that Yuki put his hand on his shoulder, giving an expression as if he had just wet himself. Laughing nervously, he shook his head rapidly. "No, no! I was just um... oh hey! Would you look at the time? I have to get to my club activities!" With that, he quickly hurried off.
Yuki blinked, watching him go, before he heaved a sigh, tucking his hands into his pockets. Did he really come off as that scary? Just last week someone had mistaken him for a member of the yazuka. A small giggle broke him out of his thoughts as he looked down at Kouin, who was trying to suppress a laugh. Heaving another sigh, he reached out his hand and pet her hair. "Really. You could try showing a little more appreciation to your brother."
"I'm sorry, onii-chan." She said, wiping away a tear borne of laughter from her eye. "It's just, his reaction was kind of funny!"
"More like scared out of his wits!" Yuki protested. "I wasn't even trying to scare him!"
The girl giggled some more, taking her brother's hand and giving it a tight squeeze. "Well, I understand you weren't, onii-chan." She reassured him. "Still... that face..." She had to turn away a bit, still trying to cover up her laugh, never mind the fact that she was failing miserably at it.
Heaving another sigh, he squeezed her hand back, shaking his head. Even when she was like that, he still cared for his sister very deeply. "Come on. Let's get home before you manage to laugh yourself to death." He said, looking down at her with a small smile. Well. At least someone could tell what he meant.
