GIVE SADNESS A SAILOR SMILE
Swear to shake it up, if you swear to listen
Oh, we're still so young, desperate for attention
BRING A MIRACLE, A SAILOR WING
Character Name: Kiyoshi Arashiyama
Name Meaning: Pure Storm Mountain
Shitennou Name: Sutekh
Age: 17
Birthdate: March 14
EVERYONE CARRIES A SHINING STAR
Personality: Blatantly theatrical and with a temper, Kiyoshi stands out from a crowd without even trying. Very much an artistic--if quite hard to predict--free spirit, he's often rightfully judged as an eccentric that marches to the beat of his own drum. "I do what I want, where I will, why I wish" is something of his own personal motto. If something dares to get in his way, he'll plow right through it in order to do whatever appeals to him. For the most part, as sassy and snappy as he might be, he is an individual that loves to be social and thrives on being the center of everyone's attention.
Due to his priviledged upbringing, Kiyoshi is rather shallow on the surface. The problems of the 'common man' are completely beyond him, and he is basically incapable of sympathizing with the plights of others. Despite all that, he has an uncanny skill in reading other people. It doesn't mean he cares, but he's generally aware of such things. He is also rather intelligent in the book-smart sense even though he comes off as something of a flake because he only uses that when motivated to perform.
There is another side to Kiyoshi which doesn't often openly see the light of day that is intrinsically entwined with his role as Sutekh. A little disconnected from reality, he is easily lost in his art and to dreams that border on precognitive. Order and structure make him uncomfortable, and he just has to shake things up. He feels as if he is compelled to act, and is unable to keep that side of him idle for very long without becoming increasingly discomfited with his situation.
Strengths: Kiyoshi's unpredictably creative nature is something of a boon to him as he'll come up with unusual solutions to problems and make himself constant source of confusion to others when he wishes it. He is extremely sociable and rarely hits stumbling blocks when he decides to deal with others. He is both intelligent and intuitive, skilled at deflection and obfuscation in his social life. His artistic skills are extremely sharp, his style bordering on photorealism, and he has an eye for detail that makes his work stand out.
Weaknesses: Kiyoshi's instability is a double-edged sword for him that can lead him to extemporizing on already laid plans without running them by others, making teamwork difficult. His hardheadedness is the sort of thing that frequently allows him to find himself in trouble because he finds it almost impossible to back down from a challenge or unwilling to ask for assistance even when in dire need of help. A combination of both temper and ego tend to cause him a great deal of troubles when he's pushed. His major failing in combat is his status as a caster-type and near complete inability to fight close range. Lastly, an influence of his power leads him to be unusually sensitive to electrical fields--he's frequently one big ball of static electricity.
Dreams: His greatest dream is to become known by the entire world by his own means.
Habits: When upset or particularly nervous, he has a tendency to chew on his thumbnail despite all the effort he puts forth to keep his nails manicured. He has an obvious Kansai regional accent--specifically Kyoto-ben--and therefore speaks indirectly and frequently with a distinct formality.
Likes: Surrounding himself with unusual people, theatre, acting, cute things, playing with people's hair, sketching and painting.
Dislikes: Being ignored or alone, being criticized, know-it-alls, pedantry, particularly cold or dry weather
History: Kiyoshi was born the first and only child to the prestigious Arashiyama family in Kyoto, Japan. Despite his half-Japanese blood and some interesting circumstances of birth, he has been raised as the heir to the family with all that entails. Though it is clear that they did everything in their power to influence him into being completely prepared to become the head of the family when the time comes, his naturally rebellious tendencies have always strained his relations.
Unsurprisingly, his distance from the Arashiyama combined with a certain revelation of a distinctly personal nature led to something of a breaking point. The summer after he turned fifteen, he demanded to be allowed to live on his own in Crystal Tokyo and attend school there and used some incredibly dire ultimatums in the process. With few options besides perhaps confining the boy, his father allowed him to have his own penthouse apartment in the city on the condition that he would return to Kyoto when he turned eighteen and resume his role. Temporarily contented with this turn of events, he began to attend Crystal Tokyo High School.
Since his attempt at independence, he has become increasingly eccentric and developed something of a niche within his peergroup. Well-known and fairly popular, if never developing actual close relations to most of his fellow students, somehow he has managed to flourish on his own.
TO TOMORROW, A SAILOR YELL
Elemental Power: Storms
Transformation Sequence: Without a word, Kiyoshi snaps his fingers to summon an entirely unnatural wind that coalesces into dark clouds around him. Lightning sparks within it, and another snap of his fingers clears the air around him. As he becomes visible again, his civilian clothes replaced by his uniform. With a sharp gesture, he flings his cloak back to complete the transformation into his alter ego known as Sutekh.
Attack Name: Tempest Sunder
Description of Attack: Though not strictly necessary to the use of the attack, Kiyoshi finds a certain amusement in theatrically announcing his attack name as he gestures sharply to the sky. Moisture in the air coalesces and forms clouds--literally shifting the weather patterns in a localized area over a span of time, particularly lengthy on dry days and far more quickly on humid ones--unless he has the appropriate conditions already at hand. Once the stage is set, he is able to call down strikes of lightning by raising his hand and bringing it down sharply. The strength of these are dependant on his own energy as well as his focus, and as a result most often act as the functional and magical equivalent of a particularly powerful taser.
I WILL CATCH IT, THE SAILOR STAR
Your Name: Julia
Secret Phrase: Neptune Planet Power, Make Up
Roleplaying Sample:Thunder rumbled, a flash of light illuminated a figure cast in shadow, the blue-garbed form of the shitennou. A few flights up on a metal fire escape in an alleyway that offered him a great view of the chaos, the blond sat with his legs crossed rather primly before him on the railing. One hand was outstretched to the sky as he beckoned the very clouds obey him.
Lightning cut through the air, raking at the pavement like greedy electric fingers, a woman screamed on reflex. No one saw him yet, but the supernatural storm was already sending people scattering as to not get caught up in the sudden storm. Fleeing like the sheep they were, running from something they could not understand.
Sutekh smiled.
He hadn't felt this complete in so very long, ever since those dreams began. It had been a compulsion; 'you want to, you want to.' It had turned into a command; 'do it, do it, do it.' Everyone had a breaking point, a line that couldn't be crossed, and this preternatural obsession had officially blown said line into so many pieces.
Maybe, that part of him that could recognize this as a reckless thing to do thought, he was going just a little bit mad.
Just a little cracked like the glass of a street lamp, shattering into fragments as a bolt of lightning struck the pole. He almost thought he could hear the chime of the tiny little pieces falling with the rain to hit pavement.
