Youenko irritably twisted and fiddled with her scratchey crinoline until it finally sat correctly around her waist. She pulled the ployester maids dress over the layers of fluff and frills with a scowl. She was sick of this too warm, too tight little uniform. As she tied her little white apron, Youenko promised herself that she was going to be done with this silly cafe and into a proper, classy cabaret club by the end of the school year.
"You-ko! Don't go out like that!" her coworker, Miho chirped as she skipped up behind Youenko, "your bow looks so silly!" she added in her lilting sing-song. Youenko rolled her eyes. "Seriously, Miho, you know I can't handle that before I'm on the clock, ok?"
Miho shrugged and pushed past her coworker to lean out the open window and light a ciggarette. "Sorry," she replied, letting her voice drop back down its low, smoker's growler, "I can't keep it up for too long, anyways." Youenko laughed, gave her curls one last primp before stepping out into the cafe. It was already begining to fill up with customers.
