Lost in a dream, finally it seems,
Emptiness and everlasting madness,
See the sadness grow, watching as we know,
Blinded for our journey for the world,
Call for us, the power in all of us,
So far beyond the blackened sky tonight...
Glorious, forever more in us,
We are victorious, and so alive.
Character Name:
Midori Sakura
Senshi Name:
Sailor Jupiter
Age:
16
Birthdate:
April 14
Personality:
Many people would describe Sakura in many different ways. Her guardian would say she is stubborn. Her friends would say she was loyal. Her teachers would say she is a slacker. The police would say she is a delinquent. Racers would say she is fast and skilled. Her father would have said she had a strict code of honor.
So who is right? All of them are. Sakura, aka Sailor Jupiter, is a very atypical girl, standing completely separate from what people expect from a girl her age. Sakura has forgone the traditional schoolgirl hobbies in exchange for a more “out there” look and behavior. Sakura comes across as very tomboyish with her choice of clothing and her cocky, and somewhat obnoxious, attitude. No one can deny that above all, Sakura is sure of herself and her abilities, and won’t hide that fact.
Sakura’s cocky nature originates from the fact that growing up she had to look after herself after her father was killed in the line of duty. Running around the streets and racing scene gave Sakura a view of the world amounting to “Don’t show weakness or it will be exploited,” and “Stay loyal to your true friends, as they might save your bacon some day.” She is constantly on guard in new situations, having been conditioned by the fights that occur at the chasm as well as trouble she has managed to find in the past with her, not uncommonly because of her mouth. This forced Sakura to learn how to go from a relaxed situation to combat readiness rapidly, though it also makes her slightly jumpy and not as quick to relax around new people. This unwillingness to relax around new people has been known to make people think she was either up to something (usually law enforcement people get this idea), or that she felt she was better than others (her cocky attitude would support this as well), but people who get past this and get to know her find a very loyal friend who follows a personal code of honor, something she picked up from her late father.
Her father instilled in her a very strong view of honor, something that drives her to this day. Some people would call her shady, wild, criminal, or a waste of time, but no one could ever accuse her of violating her honor.
Her code of Honor would be confusing to some people, but for Sakura is clear as day.
• Don’t interfere in a one on one fair fight.
• Don’t back out of or turn down ANY challenge.
• Keep any and all promises.
• Do not expose an enemies weakness for personal gain.
• Protect those who can’t protect themselves.
• Stay loyal to your friends and allies.
One would expect this to make Sakura an upstanding citizen and fighter for the greater good, but a person thinking such a thing clearly doesn’t know Sakura. Sakura found her passion in early junior high school when she discovered street racing. People who remember Sakura from childhood would remember a child who got into fights in school often (though rarely was the starter in her eyes), but never really fit in anywhere. In jr. high, that changed as she learned of the racers down at the chasm and started going there herself. She changed her hair style and clothing to a more wild and “look at me!” style. This was both to stand out from the crowds at school, as well as to rebel against the typical behavior her teachers said she should follow.
Sakura isn’t one to trust quick, but will help anyone who needs it and will accept the help (as long as it doesn’t go against her honor), but will go to the ends of the world to protect her friends and allies. Befriending Sakura isn’t as simple as saying hi and inviting her to the mall, but if you get past her wall and accept her slightly odd ways, you will find a loyal and dependable friend and ally.
Physical Appearance:
Sakura typically wears an outift which shows both sides of her everyday life. She wears black t-shirts with a band logo and some standard jeans when around town. Her general look tends to be a slight blend of punk and goth (attributed to her hanging out with racers and the like), but clearly easy to move around in if she gets into a fight (something she learned early on with martial arts training). Her hair, which she is very proud of, is streaked red and black. Sakura wears a much darker outfit for parties at night; usually a fishnet longsleeve shirt under a formfitting black shortsleeve shirt.
If visited while at home, people would see a very different looking Sakura. Around the home, she tends to relax a bit and has a simple tank top and shorts. It’s not uncommon to see random drawings on her arms looking like simple tattoos if she has been exceptionally bored that day.
Strengths:
Expert fighter - Growing up on the streets and with the environments she found herself in, Sakura has learned how to fight to win. Heavy brawler and willing to be underhanded (though not dishonorable), Sakura doesn't pull her punches.
Loyal to Teammates - Sakura will fight for a teammate, not even knowing what the fight is about.
Good at Math - Auto work requires a lot of math with ratios and fuel to air intake values. Sakura has learned to calculate complicated math problems in her head rapidly.
Multitasking - Sakura can do two or three things at once. While this doesn't come up often, it helps in a fight to keep up with multiple opponents. 2-1 and 3-1 odds don't overwhelm Sakura's sensory abilities (but maybe her combat abilities)
Honor - Sakura is a wild girl at heart, but knows that Honor is of utmost importance. This of course, being what SHE considers to be honor, as everyone’s view of the matter is different.
Weaknesses:
Not fast to trust - Sakura will do anything for her team, but she doesn't accept teammates quickly. For her, you must prove that you are truly an ally before gaining her trust (especially in a fight). She believes in Honor above all, but is not as nieve to assume everyone else does as well. Not trusting others is a weakness because the Senshi rely on teamwork, something that Sakura doesn't give freely.
Cooking - Sakura has actually caught water on fire. She stays out of the kitchen.
Society Etiquette - Sakura lived a life on the streets, and only knows the racing crews at the Chasm and the gamers at the arcade. In formal situations, she feels very out of place and is not sure how to exhibit herself. When she was young she knew this from her fathers work, but years have eroded the knowledge. How long to hold a courtsy, who do you salute, and who do you bow to? These are greek to Sakura.
Self Restraint - If someone challenges Sakura, her pride and honor won't let her back down. If she loses, she can become obsessive about getting better to win, to the exclusion of everything else.
Dreams:
Sakura wants to become the best racer in Japan.
Habits:
Taps foot when impatient.
Loud and energetic at times (many times).
Cocky.
Background:
Sakura was born a few years after the end of the great war. Her mother was lost during childbirth, but Sakura has been told she was an employee of the royal family as a financial advisor. Her father was a member of the Royal Escort to Queen Chibiusa as well as helped set up security for public events. When Sakura was just turning 5, he was killed during a security patrol getting ready for the Queen to make a presentation.
Before passing away, Sakura and her father (Midori Daisuke) had a wonderful relationship. They were always excited to see each other and Sakura was always learning about what he did. Sakura up to that point was a semi well behaved girl, showing some tomboyish qualities but was usually pretty calm. The day she learned of her fathers death, she ran away and was missing for a three days.
During those days, Sakura was in a haze. She couldn’t accept her father’s death, and everywhere she turned she saw reminders of him. Someone would be wearing a green jacket like her fathers. Someone would have a military haircut like his. Someone else would be talking to THEIR daughter with a loving smile.
After three days, Sakura was tired and alone. Sitting at a bus stop, dirty from running and sleeping around where she could find, some boy and his friends decided to pick on her. Two stayed back while the leader stepped up and started calling her every name she had ever heard, and some she hadn’t heard before. It wasn’t until the boy made an off color comment about her parents that she exploded in more anger than she had ever shown. On instinct, she lashed out and planted her fist into the kids nose.
She remembered feeling the bone snap, the spray of blood, the shocking cry of the kid. Time seemed to slow as she watched him fall back and the other two stare wide eyed. Leaping forward, she tackled another boy to the ground and punched him in the chest, then the face. As she pulled back to hit again, someone grabbed her and pulled her away. Through her tears, she noticed it was a police officer. His partner was checking on the other boys, who looked at her like she was a demon.
Part of her liked it, but another part knew she had gone against what her father would have wanted. Nonetheless, for the first time in the three days since she found out about his death, she had managed to put it aside. In that instance of fighting, she felt free.
The police didn’t care though, and upon finding out who she was, she was placed into a foster home with a few other children who were orphans. The lady that ran the home was nice enough, though Sakura had a feeling it was because of Daisuke’s position in the palace that she herself was treated so well. Sakura didn’t like that, and wanted to be judged by her own actions.
Luckily for her, the other ophan’s did judge her by her own actions, and started to look to her as a sort of leader. Sakura watched out for them, and in return they would help her with information and such that they learned. A strong loyalty grew among the orphans that lived in the home, and even if someone was adopted they always stayed in contact with Sakura.
As Sakura grew up in the home, she started sneaking out more and more. A few times police would catch her and bring her in, but usually she would get away. By jr high, she had become somewhat known on the streets. Not as a criminal or thug, but just as someone who you didn’t cross, and usually could get you information about people with her network.
Her favorite place to hang out by the time she was 12 was the Crystal Chasm. Her rebel side started showing around this time as well, as she started dying her bright blond hair a more rebel red and black streak design and started wearing dark shirts with band logos and jeans that might be torn a bit. She never wore anything that would restrain her in a fight, however, as even after all the years that had passed, she still ended up in a fight at least once a week. Either for something she had said, or something she knew and might share. Sakura didn’t mind though, expanding her fighting ability was something she loved doing and the random fights kept her on her toes.
The racers took her in swiftly as one of their own, teaching her about racing, what the rules were, what each car had over the others, and things of that nature. Soon she managed to talk someone into teaching her to actually race and a whole new world opened up to Sakura. She had found her drug, and speed was its name. Sakura’s whole paradigm shifted and she knew she wanted to be the best racer in all of Japan.
Learning quickly that she would need her own wheels, she talked the owner of a local mechanic shop to let her work part time for cash that she could save up to get a motorcycle. (Sakura didn’t worry about a license and being under aged. The police would have to catch her to do anything about it).
Working the shop also helped her learn a bit of auto machanics. She was easily the only kid in school that knew what gear ratios, blow off valves, and nitros injection systems were.
Things worked great and Sakura knew where things here headed until she was given her second job. The pay sucked, but the benefits made up for it. After all, controlling thunder was hard to beat with a paycheck.
Now if she could just do something about that Fuku.

Sakura limped into the foster home, trying to hide the wound from the other orphans. Last thing she needed was to worry then. After all, it was her own fault she was injured.
'Last time I don't take my enemy seriously. It was bad enough when they simply brought weapons to the fight. Launching magical attacks requires more attention' She though to herself as she made it to the kitchen. The first aid kit was open already and a small bandage wrapper was on the counter.
"Keichi...he is always getting hurt." She mumbled as she pulled out some cleaner and bandages to apply to the gash in her leg. The cleaner hissed as she tended to the wound, but Sakura made no sound. The pain just reminded her of the girl who did this.
'I see her again and it is on!' Sakura yelled in her mind as she secured the bandage. Once the kit was put away, she took a moment to relax and think about her next move. Eleven O'clock...yep, really no contest. If she can't win a fight tonight, might as well go win a race.
