GIVE SADNESS A SAILOR SMILE
You could save yourself
You could save us all
Go on living, prove us wrong
Your leap of faith could be a well-timed smile
BRING A MIRACLE, A SAILOR WING
Character Name: Meido Wakahisa
Name Meaning: Brightness Forever Young
Age: 16
Birthdate: May 3
EVERYONE CARRIES A SHINING STAR
Personality: Meido is a super friendly but equally rather geeky sort of young woman. She's very energetic about all that she does, diving in head first to whatever she does without any real regard for being reasonable. As a general rule, she makes up for her lack of caution with absolute unmitigated enthusiasm. It's one of her more endearing traits but, for all her cute nature, she certainly isn't terribly bright.
Her geeky traits take her in two completely different directions, otaku-esque activities as well as a love for comics and anime. Her fannishness is often borderline obsessive. Beyond that, however, she's quite devoted to her training in the martial arts. That, too, has shaped her personality. She's strong in her convictions to a fault, and has a very firm sense of what she believes is right. Meido can be frustrating in her steadfastness to the point of sheer obstinacy, but she doesn't visibly waver.
Strengths: Meido is a nidan black belt in karate known for her inexplicable concentration on the dojo floor (and no place else). Physically, her dedication to her training has left her with a particularly impressive strength that belies her form. She has a strong sense of right and wrong, capable of doing what is necessary even when she doesn't always want to. She's protective of people, and won't hesitate to jump in if she sees something amiss. She is also a human index of fandom related nonsense, a trait that seems to come in handy more than it rightfully should.
Weaknesses: Head in the clouds and prone to escapism, she's known to say some truly off the wall things and generally function in her own version of reality for the most part. (It's a pleasant and friendly reality, of course.) Impaired vision gets the best of her, she's mostly helpless without her glasses or contacts. She gets attached to people and takes others at face value very easily. Her judgment is less than stellar, and her desire to be a heroine leads her into some rough situations at times.
Dreams: To be a magical girl and save the world from evil forces! She'd also love to end up with a plushie sidekick under unusual circumstances that is possessed by supernatural forces to act as her mascot character. (If pressed into being realistic, she'll admit it'd be nice to become a karate instructor.)
Habits: There are times when she lapses into referring to herself in the third person, and she often gives people she's fond of nicknames with a fairly childish bent. She also makes a point of wearing bloomers underneath her skirts, a fact that becomes frequently apparent considering her tendency to get up and engage in rigorous physical activity at the drop of a hat.
Likes: Anime, karate, cosplay, exercise, anime (shoujo and survival horror, please!), cats, comics, blatantly adorable things, moe anything
Dislikes: Spiders, uncute clothes, haughty-type people, being called immature (even though very well can be), snakes, working by herself
History: Meido is the middle child of a mixed family that is comfortably middle-class. She has always been rather the odd one out, even from a particularly young age, due to an elder step-sister that's always been something of an academic genius and more recently the introduction of a younger half-brother still in diapers. Even as a child she was perfectly fine with that, losing herself in odd little hobbies and amusements rather than needing adult guidance to keep busy.
From a young age, she's taken the ideals of the magical girl genre and the pursuit of justice just a little too seriously. Be it kindergarten when she tackled a boy a few years her senior in protection of Chuushin Kouin (and starting an unusual, and frequently overprotective friendship) or pestering her parents into letting her follow a martial arts discipline, she's definitely let it guide her in life. Between geeking out and working out, she does her best to assure the 'forces of evil' are kept in check.
I WILL CATCH IT, THE SAILOR STAR
Your Name: Julia
Secret Phrase: Neptune Planet Power, Make Up
Roleplaying Sample: Though the city was apparently in the grip of a nasty little storm, Meido felt rather in her element with all the water. The teenage girl was, perhaps a little childishly, skipping through puddles cheerfully. In fact, it seemed as if she had been trying to splash her way through them, deftly bouncing from one to the next with a certain athletic grace. It didn't matter much to her, of course, dressed in a big yellow raincoat and wearing oversized galoshes. It didn't really count as getting wet in that instance, though her braids were damp and there were flecks of water on her glasses despite the face she carried a ducky-motif umbrella.
"Ponpon, pata pata, pon~!" she sang the nonsense words to herself, pausing only before she made a particularly impressive leap into yet another growing pool of water. There weren't very many people out, not in this rain, and she was more than happy to take advantage of that fact. She could get in and out of the mall in no time, provided she stopped distracting herself, and it was pretty important. After all, Magical Girl Ponpon had finally released the third graphic novel! This particular one had issues 13-18, the most action packed to date, and was even supposed to have a limited edition pencil board!
Clearly, there was little more important than accomplishing this mission.
