Usually she wasn't one to go to a temple, but it was part of her University history project and so she decided to do some on-the-ground research. Sayuri carried her notebook, several pens, as well as a few drinks in a satchel over her shoulder as she approached the famous Hikawa Jinja Shrine. It was a glorious day out and she knew that visiting the temple would be a good idea.
So up she climbed, the stairs a bit steeper than she thought, and approached the shrine where the former Sailor Mars used to work as a young girl, back in the 21st Century. This place is so filled with history that you'd never know it until you looked a little closer. Closing her eyes as she stopped beneath the archway, Sayuri could almost picture what it was like in the past. When the Sailor Senshi hadn't been the rulers of Crystal Tokyo, but had just been ordinary young women who occasionally fought the forces of evil.
"I wonder if they knew they would grow to become such legends when they were young?"
Sayuri was quiet, thinking about that as she approached the sacred tree. There were pieces of paper tied all over it, filled with the hopes, prayers, fortunes, and wishes of all the people that had come here over the centuries. I think I'll add something to it myself someday. After bowing slightly in respect to the feelings kept within that tree, she went and sought out a seat nearby and began to write her history paper.

Shrines where always Fusha's kind of things, so she visited them often. Today, she didn't have any plans nor did she have work, so this was to be a relaxing day. Her other sisters wanted her to get out of the house and "have fun" for once...which entailed Fusha not really doing "fun" things.
Although she had been unsuccessful on her quest for a gift, Fusha decided against returning to the mall for fear of running into that Tetsuya again. So, instead, she decided to visit the legendary Hiwaka Jinja shrine on this day.
After scaling the steps, Fusha approached the shrine and took a good look around. It was a little chilly out so there wasn't huge herds of people lurking around, which was just how Fusha liked it. However, as her eyes fell to a brunette sitting on one of the benches, something tingled in the back of her mind.
It felt almost like...familiarity.
But how could that be? Fusha had never seen this girl before...and yet, somehow, she felt as if she knew this girl, somehow. However, Fusha dismissed it as best she could, and approached the shrine to pray for her family.
What could it be that made her feel like that?

Sayuri was sitting calmly, working on her history paper when all of a sudden she felt something. Like there was someone she knew standing close to her. Frowning, she glanced up and around but she didn't see anyone except for another woman with long purple-black hair. How strange. I feel like I know her from somewhere but I've never seen her before in my life.
Curiosity now getting the better of her, Sayuri gathered up her books and walked over. Waiting patiently as the other prayed, she took a bit longer to study her. I don't understand. I feel like I should go up to and hug her but...that's just not right. Feeling a little silly to be thinking these thoughts, Sayuri just smiled and nodded towards the shrine.
"It's a lovely place isn't it? So full of history and beauty. Nice when there's hardly anyone else around though," and she clutched her books. "Forgive me if I seem rude but I couldn't help but wonder...have we met before? You seem very familiar to me for some reason."
There. Not too invasive but I've still gotten my question across. I just hope I haven't offended her or anything.

Fusha held her hands in prayer, her head bowed as she wished the best for her family, and that her mother and younger sister would become well soon. However, during her prayers something else tickled in the back of her mind...something else she couldn't shake. The fact that the brunette seemed so familar...what was it about her? Slowly, Fusha found her eyes opening in mind-prayer, unable to fully finish due to the feeling.
Sighing, Fusha lifted her head and turned her head, spotting the brunette standing behind her. The feeling returned as she did. The other girl seemed to have something to say to her, so Fusha turned fully to face her.
Then the other girl spoke. Fusha kept her face calm and level, though inside she felt some kind of...relief knowing that she wasn't the only one confused. A small smile formed across her face.
"Ah...I see." She said softly, "So I am not the only one feeling that way. I do not believe we have ever met...yet...somehow I feel as if we have, almost as if our souls are somehow joined within the hands of fate."
Fusha clasped her hands before her and bowed respectfully towards the other girl, then rose up again. "I am Gekijakuto Fusha. A pleasure to make your acquaintance."

What an interesting girl. When Fusha had mentioned their souls possibly being tied together by fate, Sayuri had to smile. It was possible, she supposed, but she'd never believed in that sort of thing before. Still, I suppose it's possible. It could be the only explanation as to why I feel we've met before. But then Fusha introduced herself and Sayuri quickly folded her hands and bowed as well.
"My name is Mizushima Sayuri but please just call me Sayuri. It's nice to meet you Gekijakuto-san," she straightened with a small smile. "If I may, what brings you to the shrine today? Are you interested in its history or...?"
Sayuri was curious as to why the other girl was here. She also hoped to find out more about Fusha. I hope we can become friends. I'd like that. She clutched her history text tighter to her chest as that strange feeling of familiarity persisted. It was the reason she had asked Fusha to address her by name. Anything else seemed...wrong.

Fusha could not help the small, warm smile across her lips as Sayuri spoke to her, finding this chance encounter to be somewhat...relaxing to her. Fusha had not many friends, as she was often more focused on providing and helping her family then with socializing. But...something seemed different with Sayuri - it was a warm and inviting presence, some kind of a hidden connection between them.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Sayuri-san," Fusha said softly, "But if you insist, I insist as well; please refer to me as Fusha."
This was uncommon for Fusha, as she was always so proper. Asking to be on a first-name basis with someone you hardly even knew was highly in-proper within her book, but once again...this was different. She only hoped that she could deluge the reasoning behind this familiarity, and perhaps the two could become close through it.
"Oh...I am here to pray for the well-being of my family," Fusha informed towards Sayuri's inquiry, "We have been in hard times for some time now, so I am often visiting shrines to pray for us, especially my mother and my younger sister." Slowly, she tilted her head towards the brunette, "And what is it that brings you here, Sayuri-san? Are you praying as well, or perhaps are you studying the history of this beautiful temple?"

"Then Fusha-san it is," Sayuri agreed.
She felt so relaxed around Fusha. Normally she didn't have trouble striking up conversations but having someone who felt like she could confide in? That was new and different and Sayuri hoped the two of them would become good friends. When asked about why she was at the temple, she smiled crookedly and chuckled.
"Nothing as noble as your purpose I assure you," she held up her history book. "I'm a student at Crystal Tokyo University. My major is dance but I still have to take the basic courses according to my parents. You know, to be a well-rounded individual."
She comes here to pray for her family? What a switch. Sayuri was thinking of her younger brothers and the demons they were. She disliked them intensely, almost bordered on hatred, but they were her brothers and she was obligated to care about them. As for her mother...
"I must say I envy you your close ties to your family. It's truly a wonderful thing to have."

For some reason, that rare smile upon Fusha's lips did not vanish so swiftly as it often did. Perhaps there was something more here...
"History?" Fusha stated as Sayuri revealed her intent, "Ah...well, history is as important as one's passion can be. For without history the foundations of our present would not be the way they are." She turned slightly and gazed towards the large prayer tree, reaching a delicate hand out to rest upon the withered trunk.
"I also work at a shrine, to help my family. I suppose the serenity and peace of shrines brings comfort to my life, giving me fleeting hope that things will, one day, be better. I also enjoy the history of the place..." However, Fusha paused as she realized she was starting to ramble, and chuckled softly. "Forgive my banter. I sometimes get carried away with such things."
However, at mention of her family, and the contrast between hers and Sayuri's, Fusha chuckled again - something rare for her.
"Ah...well, we have had to grow strong with one another in order to survive," Fusha sighed softly, turning from the tree to face Sayuri again, "My mother is vastly ill and cannot work, so my father has to work two jobs to support her and myself, as well as all of my five younger sisters. My youngest sister, Hikari, is also very weak...so despite that, we have grown strong."
As she spoke, Fusha realized that she was bantering on again...and that she was deluging too much too soon to someone she hardly even knew. More over...she wasn't so much one to share such intimate information about her family so quickly...but something about Sayuri made her feel more comfortable with doing so.
Fusha flushed lightly and turned away. "Ah...I have rambled on again. Do forgive me for doing so, Sayuri-san...I did not mean to thrust my tragic family history upon you so suddenly."

As Fusha spoke, Sayuri listened quietly, intently, her eyes never leaving the other woman's face. She could tell from the way Fusha spoke that she liked shrines and nodded with a smile when she admitted to working at one to help her family. Waving a hand, Sayuri just shook her head.
"No need to apologize. It's clear that shrines and your family are very dear to your heart and it's only natural we ramble when we speak of something that's important to us. I speak the same way when I talk about dance."
At the explanation of why Fusha worked in a shrine, Sayuri's eyes widened slightly. Immediately she felt her heart go out to the other woman and wanted to help her as much as she could. Whether it be just a friendly ear, or an open heart, or whatever...Sayuri didn't want Fusha to face this hardship alone. How strange. I've never felt so passionate about helping someone else before. Usually I help others because it's polite and the right thing to do. But with Fusha-san...she smiled reassuringly.
"Think nothing of it. I'm glad that you feel you can tell me about your family even though we have only met today. It shows that you love them very much and that is something more priceless than anything," she chuckled lightly, hiding it behind her hand.
Goodness, i can't believe having so many younger siblings. I just have Yoshi and Araki and they drove me up a wall. For as long as she could remember her little brothers had tormented her. They stole her diary, made it very awkward to invite friends over, and just created general chaos. Even though they were older, that didn't change anything.
"And here I thought just my two younger brothers were a handful. I can't imagine having five younger sisters. Things must be quite exciting at your house. I live in my dorm room at the university now so it feels like I'm finally getting some peace and quiet. But then I suppose your little sisters must adore you...what a nice feeling..."

Despite herself, Fusha found herself chuckling softly once again, that grin ever-present upon her face. Gently, she shook her head, finding that this brief time she had spent with Sayuri had been most enjoyable.
"Ah...yes, my family is very important to me. As I have said, we have had to grow strong to overcome our hardships, but none for the worse mind you." She responded softly towards Sayuri's question, "I love my little sisters dearly, and while they can be a handful at times, the times I enjoy with them is far more frequent then those harder times. But, I understand that the dynamic between famlies is not as strong as mine most of the time." Fusha paused, however, when she realized that she was once again rambling. "Ah...and there I go again. Forgive me, I am not so nearly talkative as I am now."
Wanting to switch the subject from her family over so she could hear some more about Sayuri, Fusha picked up upon the notion that Sayuri was a dancer. Tilting her head softly towards one side, Fusha smiles again.
"So you are a dancer? I would love to hear what you do in that, Sayuri-san."

At the mention of her most beloved hobby, Sayuri beamed brightly. Well, it wasn't just a hobby for her. For Sayuri, dancing was the bright spot in her universe, the thing that gave her something to work towards.
"I started to dance when I was just a toddler. I fell in love with the graceful movements, the fast and complicated steps, the classical dances as well as the modern ones. My major in Tokyo University is actually the history of dance and how it evolved. I'm particularly interested in the Noh Theater and the Takarazuka and how they've changed as well. The Noh style of dance is actually one of the oldest in Japan."
Sayuri realized she was babbling and most likely discussing things that Fusha had no idea about. She blushed deeply, looking embarrassed.
"My apologies, Fusha-san. Much like how you talk about your family, I get carried away when I mention dance. I'm not certain but do you know what the Noh Theater and the Takarazuka are? If not, I'd be happy to elaborate, I wouldn't want you to be confused."

Fusha listened intently to Sayuri as she spoke about her life passion so fondly. Her bright blue eyes glistened with intent, focusing in upon the words her new found friend said, and found herself smiling softly at her passion.
As she apologized for rambling, Fusha only smiled softly in response. "No need to apologize, Sayuri-san. I enjoy listening to the dreams of others. It brings me joy to see the light in people's eyes when they speak of such things, especially those that feel close to me." As much as she didn't want to admit it, Fusha was becoming fond of Sayuri. Somehow, she felt as if this was going to be the begining of a beautiful friendship.
"I do not know of the things you speak off of-hand, but I am more then willing to listen to--" However, she stopped speaking as a rip of lighting cracked across the sky. Fusha's brows furrowed as she turned her head, watching the sky churn over Crystal Tokyo. "This is most concerning. Perhaps we should head for dry ground before the storm reaches here, Sayuri-san?"

"That's a good idea Fusha-san."
Sayuri also looked up at the sky as the weather threatened to turn to rain. She shivered in her jacket and pulled up the hood over her brown hair just to be safe.
"Unfortunately I don't know where anything in this area is," she admitted with a small blush. "I took the bus here from my dormitory and I'd hate to miss the chance to talk further with you. Perhaps there's something nearby..."
This has been too nice for me to pass up. I really don't want to go back to my dorm right now anyway. But we do have to get out of the rain, that would just make us both miserable. Another rumble of thunder rolled across the sky and then the first tiny drops of rain began to fall, striking Sayuri on the head and arms.
"Oh dear. Well if we're going to go somewhere, we'd better decide soon," she said with a laugh.

"There is not a whole lot around here," Fusha admitted as her brows furrowed towards the darkening skies overhead. She began to swiftly move forward, hoping that her new-found friend would follow close at her heels. "There is a cafe not too far from here, and perhaps that will be the best bet to wait out the storm, at least for a little while."
Fusha turned her attention back towards Sayuri and smiled reassuringly at her. "Does that sound like a plan to you, Sayuri-san?"
And, maybe, they could sit down together and talk some more over a cup of tea or coffee. It brought another smile to Fusha's lips as she began to walk down the stairs leading away from the shrine, glad to have made a new friend in an unexpected place.
