It was early afternoon at the Omotesando Hills Mall, and not without its normal hustle and bustle. As crowds prepared for the coming Valentine's Day and picked presents for their loved ones or crushes, Kyoutei Aijouno was braving the crowds--somewhat, anyways.
"A-ah, maybe I should try somewhere else..." the girl murmured, staying somewhat near the edge of the crowds. She'd spent the last half hour looking through the various stores, with no luck. She had the chocolates ready, but she also felt like she had to give a gift of some sort. The problem was--what to get? Maybe a new pair of goggles for him or a cookbook...
A group of giggling girls passed the brunette, chatting about what they were going to do for the holiday. Kyoutei blushed a little as she thought about it, shifting away from the group a little. Her ribbons bobbed as she looked around some more, blushing even more as her stomach began to rumble. She let out a small squeak of surprise, causing another nearby group of girls to laugh and Kyoutei to squirm a little in embarrassment. Turning on her heel, she headed toward the food court as fast as she could.
As she gazed at the different food places, she bit the tip of her thumb in thought. "Hamburger curry sounds good..." she decided aloud. As she shuffled off to order, she thought of Kouin and smiled a little. Ahh, maybe I should have asked Kouin-chan to come with me... she thought, frowning a little. Why hadn't she asked Kouin to come, anyways? Maybe I should call her later... she considered.
Once she got her food, she blinked in surprise. "Oh no..." she mumbled, realizing there were no empty tables around. Maybe she was getting better about this if she hadn't noticed the lack of tables...
The girl considered what to do for a long moment, then sucked in a deep breath. Just don't make an idiot of yourself... she reminded herself, heading over to a larger table and the person who was sitting at it. "U-um!" she choked out, straining her normally very soft voice so that she could be heard over the chattering nearby, "A-all the other t-tables are full! W-would you m-mind if I sat w-with you?"

Youenko looked up from her cell phone in surprise. She'd been lost in her own world of texting. She ran her gaze critically up and down the petite woman who approached and finally shrugged. "Go ahead," she replied, non-commitlly waving at one of the seats, though noticably not one too close. Youenko returned to her text messages coolly, before remembering that this was exactly the sort of attitude she was trying to train herself out of. She flipped the cherry-coloured phone shut, and put on her most winning smile. "Hi," she purred, "I'm Kaigan Youenko. Sorry, I was just in the middle of something important... pleased to meet you."

Kyoutei let out a small sigh of relief as the red-haired woman said yes, silently noticing how the other girl was preoccupied with something. She must be busy... the petite brunette thought as she took a seat, being as quiet and unobtrusive as she could be. It was then that the other girl spoke up, making Kyoutei instinctively look up. She was slightly put off by the purr in Youenko's voice, squirming slightly, but then let out a small note of realization. Oh right, she was supposed to introduce herself too!
"I-it's nice to meet you, Kaigan-san!" she replied with a nod, offering the older girl a nervous smile. "I...I'm Aijouno Kyoutei!" she added, her cheeks heating up a little. "Oh! W-we go to the same school, don't w-we?" At least, Kyoutei was sure she and Youenko went to the same school--she remembered being a little envious of the other girl's cleavage once or twice.

Youenko noticed Kyoutei's gaze flick to and from her well-presented curves, as well as the ensuing flush of red. She misread the blush and smiled proudly. Boys, girls, who couldn't help but fall for her charms. The smaller girl added, "Oh! W-we go to the same school, don't w-we?" Youenko studied the sweet little face, then nodded as she recalled seeing her around before. "You're a first year, right?" Youenko asked, not really having any idea. She didn't bother with anyone who wasn't a third year, like herself, but for some reason she was entrigued by this petite young woman. Youenko tried to examine the delicate face a little more closely, without being too obvious. Maybe she just wanted to do Kyoutei's make up. Youenko didn't even think this kid was wearing mascara, she shuddered.

Kyoutei shifted a little in her seat again, unused to having someone examine her like Youenko was. Do...do I have a pimple or something? Ahhhh, I bet I do! So embarrassinnnggg~! Stupid stupid stupid! I shouldn't have even come today... she thought, her expression becoming a little less confident.
"Ah, yes! I-I'll be starting my second year s-soon too..." she told the other girl, her ribbons--a peach shade today--bobbing up and down as she nodded. Her face fell a little as Youenko shuddered, misinterpreting why she had done it. ...oh. I guess she really doesn't want me to stick around... she thought, and while she would have switched to another table, it looked like the other tables were a lot more crowded than this one.
The girl nervously wound her fingers in her hair, debating what to do next. Well, she supposed they could keep talking... "S-so! What brings you to the mall today, Kaigan-san...?"
Ugh, that's just as bad as talking about the weather...

Youenko's face lit up like the Tokyo Tower as she began to search through the glossy purple bag she had set on the table beside her. When she found what she was looking for, she brandished the charcol coloured tube with pride. She popped it open and twisted, revealing a hint of soft, smoky pink from the silver cylinder protecting it. "This," she sighed delightedly, "Isn't the shade just sensational? It was just released today, only 10 000 tubes in this city! Moisturizing, SPF 30 and the colour would look just as good on someone dark like me, as someone-" she paused and glanced over at Kyotei. When she took in the girl's soft, peachy complexion her face fell. Despite the lipstick's advertisments, Youenko could see that the soft colour would suit Kyoutei much better, "-as you, she grumbled. Her disappointment was short lived, she'd picked up plenty of other cosmetics today that would work on her own tanned skin. Youenko gathered her things and waved at Kyotei's meal. "Eat up," she instructed, "then we're putting some of this on you.

Kyoutei found herself more than a little lost as Youenko started rambling about the small tube she was holding--the brunette recognized it as lipstick. She'd never been one for makeup, but not by choice--it was more like she had no idea where to start with it or what worked as what. Her uncle had offered to help her out several times, but it was just weird to have your uncle teach you about make-up. It just seemed like it was supposed to be a girl thing...
Youenko's face falling hadn't escaped her, and Kyoutei felt another bout of nervousness. Maybe it would be better if she left--and then the older girl spoke again. "Eh?" she murmured in confusion, just as the other girl's words sunk in. A thousand protests sprang to mind--it wouldn't look good on her, it wasn't hers, they'd just met, she'd just look silly (at this one she pictured herself in clown-esque makeup), Youenko shouldn't bother--and she was just about ready to say it really wasn't necessary, when the girl realized that saying no would be pretty rude too.
The girl finally nodded, managing a smile that was more confident than she actually felt about this whole makeup ordeal. "I-it sounds like it'll be fun!"
That didn't sound lame, did it? she wondered as she began to eat, also realizing her food had gotten a little on the cool side. While she normally was very careful to not get food on her in the first place, the added nervousness and being around a peer made her want to be more mature as a result. Unfortunately, it also made it harder for her to stomach anything, and after halfway through her meal, she reached for a napkin and wiped her mouth. "A-ahaha, I guess I wasn't as hungry as I thought..." she apologized, hoping the wait hadn't been too boring...

Youenko giddily grabbed Kyoutei by the hand and half dragged her ton one of the malls spacious powder rooms, babbling all the while about "bringing out her cheeckbones," and "making her eyes pop." She seated the younger girl on a stool in front of the mirror and began to rummage through her bag.
"Foundation, yeah... some liner, umhmm..." she mumbled explainations of what she was doing, sometimes losing her words entirely under the sounds of hand driers and other woman chatting away to friends or on cell phones.
She worked quickly and professionally, her own painted lips curling further and further into a smile as her work progressed. In addition to the soft pink, she'd added a little defining shadow around Kyoutei's eyes, making the soft violet look etherial and vibrant. She'd added very little to rest of the face, most of her things would be too dark for Kyoutei's skin, but had managed to define her cheek bones and even out the sudden addition of colours.
"There," she announced proudly, turning Kyoutei so she could see in the mirror, "you're gonna land a boyfriend by the end of the day, I promise!"

Without warning, Kyoutei suddenly found herself dragged off, the girl furiously nabbing onto her purse so it wouldn't be left behind. She cringed a little as they waded through the crowds, at one point going through a crowd that was a little too much for the girl to handle. She felt herself getting sick and her breath caught in her throat--panicking, the girl shut her eyes and reigned herself in. The sickness she could deal with, but the feeling like she was suffocating was never fun to work through.
Thankfully, it passed as the crowds dispersed and with a small squeak, Kyoutei found herself now in one of the powder rooms. She was sat down in one of the stools before she had a chance to really comprehend what was going on, and her only breather was when Youenko was rummaging through her bag. She'd barely let out a sigh when the older girl started up again...
The process had been a little awkward, but Kyoutei was a good sport about it, careful to not squirm or move too weirdly. As the other girl talked, the brunette found herself hanging onto every word. The girl was inwardly a little disappointed that some words were lost among the chatter and the hand driers, but given what she did hear, the other girl really knew her stuff. When she was spun back around to see the result, Kyoutei let out a sharp gasp of surprise, completely missing the girl's next comment about a boyfriend. It was...different, but not in a bad way. She felt--older. Prettier. She almost wasn't sure it was really her--and Kyoutei had never considered the fact that make-up really did make you look different.
"A-ah!" she finally managed to say, a smile breaking out across her face, plain as day, "You--I--you're amazing, Kaigan-san!" she told the redhead--and she meant it. "You know so much...h-how'd you learn all of that...?"

Youenko beamed with pride at Kyoutei's response and gave the smaller girl's shoulder a squeeze. "Lots of practice, beleive me," she chuckled, standing up straight and stretching her back. She pulled her phone out of her pocket and winced at the time. "Crap, I need to be in Akihabara, like, now. Wanna give me your number so we can keep in touch?" she offered the phone to Kyoutei, "and you can put mine in yours. We're cool now, so enough of this Kaigan-san stuff. Its totally last century anyways," she grinned.

Akibahara? Huh, Youenko didn't seem like the otaku type--maybe it was something else. The girl blushed a little at Youenko saying "Kaigan-san" was outdated--she couldn't help being polite! The brunette did nod when Youenko offered to swap cellphone numbers, digging in her purse and bringing out her white and pink cellphone with various cute cellphone charms on it and offering it to Youenko just as she took the phone that was offered to her.
With a soft smile, she put her number in, handing the phone back to Youenko. "I hope you have fun in Akibahara?" she said awkwardly, blushing at how strange it sounded and getting her things. "I have to finish my shopping anyways..." she added, but it sounded out of place to her. She tried one last time, "U-um! I hope we can hang out again..."
There, that sounded better. Maybe. Hopefully.

Youenko nodded firmly, hitting the right buttons to save the new number. She liked this new aquaintence, it was rare she liked anyone so quickly. Something about Kyoutei's sweetness and shyness seemed to offset her own brashness and attitude.
"Totally," she assured her new friend and tucked her little phone back into her pocket, "later this week, when I'm not working." She gave Kyoutei's arm a last quick squeezem, then then turned to find the nearest station entrance that would whisk her away to Akihabara and her part time job. She paused once to wave before hurrying out of sight.

If there was one thing Yuki has found in the nineteen years of his life, it was that he really stuck out like a sore thumb at the mall. Granted, he kind of stuck out everywhere he went, but it always seemed to be worse here. Naturally, it meant he didn't really like coming here.
And yet, here he was.
On business, mind you, but he was still here. Apparently a popular restaurant that was supposed to serve ramen had recently opened in the food court, and he was here to check it out. At least the boss was paying for this trip, he thought, frowning to himself. The bright lights of the mall didn't agree with his eyes, so he had his goggles firmly secured over them.
Of course, he did hear from Kouin that Kyoutei was supposed to be at the mall. Maybe he would run into her. The thought of making his little spy mission into a little spy mission date was vaguely kind of appealing to him.
Then again, it was a big mall. What were the chances he would run into her? She might already be gone, even.

Ah, Youenko worked?! That was so cool! A second thought made her keep that opinion to herself--she knew if she started blabbing about it, it might cause trouble at school. Kyoutei waved when Youenko did, smiling long after the redheaded girl vanished. Of course, then she realized she was standing there, smiling like an idiot and waving, and the girl blushed again. Quickly gathering her things, she made her way out of the powder room and back into the mall.
"Ah, I should get back to shopping..." she commented lightly as she walked, glancing around to the different shops. Her grip tightened on her purse. "I think I should check out the bookstore--" she continued to say aloud as she walked, just before she tripped over her feet, falling forward. "--eeek!" she reached out blindly, grabbing a hold of someone's arm, using them to steady herself. Realizing her mistake, she blushed and looked over at the person she'd ended up grabbing. "O-oh my gosh, I-I'm sor--"
Wait. She knew this person. It, he--
"--Yuki-kun...?!" she squeaked out, her face going from a light red to a deep, dark scarlet.

So apparently thinking about Kyoutei was the way to summon her.
"Ah, no, it's quite alr-" Yuki began, putting on his best smile as he looked at the girl who had almost fallen down on him. Upon realizing who it was, his face turned a bright shade of red. "K-kyoutei!" He stammered, his good eye going wide with surprise.
"A-ah, fancy meeting you here." He managed to stammer out after a moment, collecting himself and trying to push away his embarrassment. It had been awhile now, but he still couldn't really wrap his mind over the fact that he had an actual girlfriend. Don't apologize, it's fine. Are you okay, though? You look a little... distracted.""
